NAME. Chara (Dreemurr)
AGE. Approximately 11-13. Mentally and technically immortal if we want to get specific, but I leave it at "13 year old ghost."
SPECIES. (Formerly) Human. (Currently) ...Ghost?
PRONOUNS. They/them. This is in the text, please don't be needlessly difficult about this.
SOUL COLOR. Red.
VERSE. It depends! I usually play from post Pacifist or neutral timelines, as Genocide Chara is far, far gone. Genocide Chara is always on the table, however. I'm fine with AUs outside of canon as well.
CONTENT WARNINGS. Suicide, implications of child abuse, violence against children, gratituous violence.

Now this is where it gets complicated.

SPOILERS FOR MAJOR PLOT TWISTS IN UNDERTALE AHEAD.

❤️ Chara, the first fallen human, is the protagonist of Undertale.
❤️ This is revealed by the True Pacifist route wherein they are established as the avatar the Player names and plays as in combat.
❤️ Meanwhile, Genocide goes on to establish that Chara is also the narrator of the game through the gradual transition to first person.
❤️ There are three enities that are at the forefront of Undertale's story and gameplay: Chara, the Player and Frisk.
❤️ Frisk is a character seperate from Chara and serves as the main character of Undertale rather than the protagonist. Chara shares a SOUL with them alongside their power to SAVE, ultimately acting as a phantom hovering over their shoulder.
❤️ They are responsible for flavor text and the options Frisk has in combat, and any states ingame are canonically a reflection of Chara's rather than Frisk's. The Player is the person outside of the screen, who Chara regards as their "Partner", and has the ultimate authority over the choices that are made in any given playthrough (up until the tailend of Genocide). Only Chara is truly aware of their presence, as most characters operate under the assumption that the Player and Chara are one and the same.

IC INFORMATION

❤️ Chara, contrary to popular belief, is mortifyingly composed at a glance. They are witty, mischevious, roguish, cunning and incredibly perceptive; on the flip side, they are also rather mentally unwell and are prone to intense bouts of aggression, instability, suicide ideation, and maliciousness.
❤️ They possess a hatred of and distrust of humanity rooted in trauma. This trauma is likely in relation to past abuse.
❤️ They have the capacity to be deeply influenced by other humans they encounter. They can lead you to ruin or salvation depending on what you enable.
❤️ Chara has the ability to SAVE. Being able to SAVE grants you a form of immortality through what is essentially time travel. Chara can reload their "SAVE file" over and over again, going back to previous points in time no matter the consequences. They are only capable of possession if their SOUL is compatible with another's, Frisk being an example.
❤️ Frisk is their soulmate in a literal sense. In Pacifist route, Frisk is what allows them to understand that the world is not as cruel or irredeemable as they thought it'd been. Even in Genocide, I do not play Chara as having any personal distate for Frisk.
❤️ The Dreemurrs are Chara's most treasured people aside from Frisk. They're closer to Asgore than they are Toriel, and shared his dream of wanting to see the monsters free and at peace on the surface, alongside his love for gardening.
❤️ As a note, I read Chara and Asriel's feelings for each other as a childhood crush rather than as a sibling dynamic. I know this is often up for interpretation and thought I should make this clear.

OOC INFORMATION

BACKTAGS. Yes.
FOURTHWALLING. Sure. Chara breaks the 4th wall as it is.
AFFECTION. Sure, I can't gurantee that they'll respond well.
VIOLENCE. Fine with me, Chara is prone to it — but let's discuss this. If we're going Genocide route, you're going to be dealing with an insanely OP and demonic 13 year old.
SHIPPING. Teenage crushes are fine. Hard no on everything else.
THIS PAGE. Looks like shit I'll code it later.
